This is the debut album by south Texas Indie/Alternative band From the Cocoon. The album is sprinkled with various genres like a mixtape, and took over 8 years to make. Throughout the process the band experimented with a heavier side, deep digital instrumental tracks, and some very comedic folk material but eventually found a medium tying into an alternative sound. The album features 18 original tracks, a watery cover of "Mozzarella Swastikas" by Adam Green (the Moldy Peaches) and an Acoustic/E.D.M. demo version of "Slow Show" originally by The National. The entire collection is packed full of emotion and pure soul, sure to earn its place in your music library.

This song is about struggling to be a provider, a father, a husband, while also attempting to emerge as an artist. Some parts are about meeting failure and not being beat down but rather exalted with the knowledge you tried your hardest without fear. Looking for "rubies" in the dark caves of society and finding just empty lives, people with no drive to better themselves, or addictions calling me into a comfortable haze of painless lounging. In the end I feel like the most important thing you did if you failed was pushing through the shit and getting back into the fresh air. Stepping out of your comfort zone and finding enlightenment. This is about being able to look down on your former self and laugh instead weep. Being above who you were, but exactly who you set out to be.
lyrics
Ascending higher for a different point of view
I surf these summits for perspectives I can use
You writhe in your sleep it's your fears your facing
You wake to nothing and you act on instinct
You built your nest so you can have a sure thing...
Entangled in a windstream I migrate towards my dream
Who is gonna know if you ever had those doubts
Keep wearing your straight face so no one will figure you out
You want to scream aloud but you're no stranger to the pain
Failure won't hold you back its just fuel for the flames
As if life wasn't hard enough
here's another obstacle to face
The feeling you've been here before and vanished without a trace
Neighboring the clouds while we're bathing in the rain
Navigate through turbulence live to see a brighter day
Descending slowly taking in all I can see
I feel a twinge of displacement and misery
I left home to bring back treasures men would die to reach
I found an empty chest where I thought I the rubies just might be
You're disappointed to say the very least
But who's to say when the doing's done and the dreams became reality?
Who is gonna know if you ever had those doubts
Keep wearing your straight face so no one will figure you out
You want to scream aloud but you're no stranger to the pain
Failure won't hold you back its just fuel for the flames
As if life wasn't hard enough
here's another obstacle to face
The feeling you've been here before and vanished without a trace
Neighboring the clouds while we're bathing in the rain
Navigate through turbulence live to see a brighter day
See a brighter day x2
